Biography

Valeria Mbango is Director of Strategy, Projects and Transformation at the Bank of Namibia. She leads the Bank's organisational and digital transformation agenda and is responsible for strategic execution, project and data management, innovation, and enterprise transformation initiatives. She oversees the Bank's project portfolio and has led the implementation of large-scale programmes spanning payments modernisation, digital transformation, process optimisation, and operational improvement. Her work includes establishing governance and risk management frameworks, strengthening organisational capabilities, and supporting the delivery of strategic objectives. Valeria provides strategic leadership to the Bank of Namibia's Innovation Hub, which promotes collaboration between regulators, fintechs, financial institutions, and other ecosystem stakeholders. Through the Hub, she supports the development and adoption of innovative financial solutions and contributes to the advancement of Namibia's digital financial ecosystem. She serves on the Bank’s management committees, she holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, a Master of Engineering in Project Management from the University of Pretoria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Futures Studies (Strategic Foresight) from Stellenbosch University Business School.
