Biography
Pedro Duarte Neves is a former Vice-Governor of Banco de Portugal (2006 – 2017). He participated at the main high-level supervisory and regulatory fora (SSM, ESRB, Joint Committee of the ESAs, EBA, and FSB). He was Alternate Chairperson of the EBA for two complete mandates, and he has chaired several committees within the scope of the FSB, EBA, and the Joint Committee of the ESAs. Pedro Duarte Neves has a long career at Banco de Portugal in many positions (Head of Unit, Head of Division and Deputy-Head of the Economics and Research department, Vice-Governor, and Adviser for the Board of Directors). He is also the editor of the Review of Economic Studies of the bank. Pedro Duarte Neves is Visiting Professor at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, Associate at the Systemic Risk Centre (London School of Economics) – where he is Editor of the Forum on Financial Supervision – and a member of the Advisory Board of the European Banking Institute. Pedro Duarte Neves holds a PhD in Economics from Université Catholique de Louvain. He carried out his doctoral research at University College London, The Institute for Fiscal Studies in London, and the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics in Louvain. He published in scientific journals like the Journal of Econometrics, Economics Letters and Economic Modelling. Pedro Duarte Neves publishes policy contributions in various EU think-tanks (EBI, SUERF, CEPS) and other organizations
