Biography
Eva Ortega holds a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute. She has spent most of her professional career in the Directorate General of Economics at the Banco de España, working as a senior economist, Head of the Modelling Unit and, more recently, as Research Coordinator. She also led the Macroeconomic Studies Division at the Bank of Canada, has worked as a consultant for the European Central Bank, and has taught at Carlos III University and University of Navarra. She has specialized in the development and use of macroeconomic models in central banks and currently co-chairs the Eurosystem Working Group on Econometric Modelling, as well as the NGFS macro-modelling group. Her research interests cover a wide range of areas in applied macroeconomics, including inflation expectations, business cycles, and the macroeconomic impacts of climate change.
