- Biography
- Ramūnas Baravykas is the Chief Data Officer at the Bank of Lithuania, where he leads the transformation of the institution’s data management and governance framework by integrating RegTech solutions into the data value chain. Since 2021, he has served as Director of the Data and Statistics Department, driving the implementation of a comprehensive data transformation program (DAMAMA), which established a modern data governance model, centralized data collection and dissemination, and laid the foundation for an advanced data platform supporting regulatory reporting, analytics, and decision-making. With over 17 years of experience in financial sector supervision, Mr. Baravykas has held several senior roles, including Head of Risk Modelling Division, Advisor to the Executive Director, and Head of Digitalisation and Advanced Analytics. Throughout his career, he has successfully implemented a risk-based supervision model, led the development of a core supervisory information system, and played a key role in major digitalisation and RegTech initiatives. Under his leadership, the Bank of Lithuania significantly strengthened its data governance maturity, reduced operational risks in regulatory reporting, and advanced the use of data in supervisory and analytical processes. Prior to joining the Bank of Lithuania, Mr. Baravykas served as Deputy Chairman and Head of the Information Analysis Division at the Insurance Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Lithuania.
