- Biography
- Marco Verrone is currently Deputy Head of the Banking Supervision Department at the Central Bank of Brazil, where he is responsible for overseeing problem banks and mid-sized foreign banks operating in Brazil. Previously, Marco served as Deputy Head of the Strategic Management and Specialized Supervision Department. In this role, he was responsible for the strategic planning of the prudential supervision area, including the development of a Supervisory Risk Appetite Statement and a Supervisory Risk Model. Marco also was in charge of the management of technology for the oversight of banks and other financial entities and the implementation of strategies for the use of artificial intelligence in supervisory processes. He also served as Project Manager for the SupTech Project at the Central Bank of Brazil, leading initiatives for the adoption, training, and dissemination of new technologies applied to supervision. His work has contributed to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of supervisory practices through innovative technological solutions. He was also responsible for implementing the unit dedicated to off-site macroprudential monitoring of the credit markets.
