Biography

Guenther Hobl is Head of Risk Management Division at Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), the central bank of Austria and member of the Eurosystem. In this role, held since 2023, he oversees both financial and non-financial risk management. With over 16 years of experience at OeNB, he has held various senior positions before, including Senior Advisor for Treasury risk monitoring, and gained early leadership experience as Head of Unit within the Accounting Department in 2013. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from WU Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business) and is charterholder of CFA Institute and CAIA. Guenther has also contributed to international institutions, such as Bank of England, Deutsche Bundesbank and international cooperations, enhancing his risk management acumen on a global scale. He is a key member of the OeNB risk and investment committees and reports regularly to the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board of the institution.
